If its been more than six weeks since you received an acknowledgment email, please call 1-877-252-3052.
If its been more than 12 weeks since you mailed your original return, you can mail a duplicate return to NC Department of Revenue, P O Box 2628, Raleigh, NC 27602, Attn: Duplicate Returns. Million Unemployment Refunds Are Coming: Irs Timeline Tax Transcripts And More
The IRS has sent more than 8.7 million unemployment tax refunds.
Have you been waiting on your unemployment refund? If so, weve got good news for you: The IRS announced last week its disbursing another round of 1.5 million total refunds via direct deposit and by paper check. Some are reporting on social media that theyve received IRS updates on their tax transcripts with pending refund dates in late July and early August. But many other taxpayers say they havent received any money or clues that its on the way.
This is what we know. The first $10,200 of 2020 jobless benefits, or $20,400 for married couples filing jointly, was made nontaxable income by the American Rescue Plan. Taxpayers who filed their returns before the bill was passed in March are now eligible for an adjustment and a possible refund, which the IRS is supposed to issue automatically sometime this summer. On average, taxpayers can expect to receive $1,686, though it could be more or less, depending on individual factors.

Stimulus Update: Will You Receive An $800 Tax Rebate In 2022 If You Live In South Carolina
Some South Carolinians will get a nice holiday boost this year in the form of an $800 rebate payment. The payments are currently being issued by the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
In an announcement this week, the agency said it is sending the payments to eligible taxpayers who filed a 2021 SC Individual Income Tax Return by Oct. 17, 2022. Rebates are being issued by direct deposit or mailed paper checks.
If you filed your return by Oct. 17, you can check the status of your rebate online by visiting the MyDORWAY site and either logging in with your account information or signing up for an account. You will need to provide your Social Security number or individual taxpayer identification number as well as the amount shown on line 10 of your 2021 return.
Your rebate amount is calculated according to your tax liability, up to $800 maximum. Those who filed their returns by Oct. 17 should receive their rebates by the end of the year.
If you havent filed your return, you can still do so and qualify for the $800 rebate. For those who file their returns from Oct. 18, 2022 through Feb. 15, 2023, rebates will be issued in March 2023.
If you received your 2021 refund by direct deposit, the SCDOR will use the same bank account to issue your rebate by direct deposit unless you notified the agency of a change in banking information by Nov. 1, 2022.

When Will I Get My Mass Tax Rebate
Individuals eligible for a refund will receive it automatically as a check sent through the mail or by direct deposit. The distribution of refunds began on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Approximately 500,000 refunds were expected to be distributed during the first week. About 1 million refunds were scheduled to be distributed weekly thereafter until all eligible refunds have been distributed.
Refunds will not go out in a particular predictable order, so if you haven’t received yours yet, don’t worry. Eligible taxpayers who have already filed their 2021 tax return and had a tax liability will automatically receive their refund by mid-December.
Direct deposits will be labeled “MASTTAXRFD,” and refunds mailed as checks will include several sentences on the check explaining Chapter 62F and why the recipient is receiving the refund.
The Baker administration also set up a website, www.mass.gov/62frefunds, where you can get a preliminary estimate of your refund. A call center is also now available at 877-677-9727 to answer questions about the Chapter 62F taxpayer refunds. It is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When Can I Expect My Federal Tax Refund
According to the IRS, more than 90% of refunds are issued within three weeks, but it can sometimes take longer.1 In fact, a few factors can affect how long it actually takes for you to get your federal tax refund:
Filing method. The IRS says e-filing with direct deposit is the best and fastest way to get your tax refund. If you file a paper return, someone at the IRS needs to enter your information into an electronic system before your tax return and refund can be processed. Then, the refund must be mailed to you. E-filing with direct deposit removes those steps, cutting down on processing time.
Certain tax credits. By law, the IRS says it cannot issue refunds before February 15 for tax returns that claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Child Tax Credit. This applies to the entire refund, even the portion not associated with these credits. The IRS says if you claim either of those two tax credits, you can expect direct deposit into your account as early as the first week of March assuming you filed at the beginning of tax season and there are no other issues with your tax return.2
Weekends and holidays. Dont forget that many banks and financial institutions dont process payments on weekends or holidays, and if youre getting your refund mailed to you, mail isnt delivered on federal holidays. Weekends and holidays like Presidents Day can add a few extra days.

Common Reasons That May Cause Delays

- You used more than one form type to complete your return. The form type is identified in the top left corner of your return. We will return your State tax return for you to complete using the correct form type before we can process your return. View example of form types.
- Your return was missing information or incomplete. Sometimes returns are missing information such as signatures, ID numbers, bank account information, W-2s, or 1099s. We will contact you to request this information so we can process your return. Please respond quickly so we can continue processing your return.
- Your return was selected for additional review. As refund fraud resulting from identify theft has become more widespread, were taking extra steps to review all individual income tax returns we receive to be sure refunds go to the rightful owners. Additional safeguards can mean that it takes us longer to process your refund. However, our goal is to stop fraudulent refunds before theyre issued, not to slow down your refund.
If Your Refund Isnt What You Expected
If your refund amount isnt what you expected, it may be due to changes we made to your tax return. These may include:
- Corrections to any Recovery Rebate Credit or Child Tax Credit amounts
- Payments on past-due tax or debts, offset from all or part of the refund amount

How To Watch For Your Tax Refund From Beacon Hill
If your share of the $3 billion that the Massachusetts state government is returning to taxpayers hasnt hit your bank account or mailbox yet, keep checking.
After the state collected enough revenue to trigger a little-known 1986 law capping the annual growth in tax collections, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue announced that the excess money would start flowing in November to people who had filed income tax returns in 2021.
The refunds are automatic, with no action required by the taxpayer. If you included bank information on your 2021 tax return, you’ll get your refund by direct deposit, labeled “MASTTAXRFD.” Otherwise, it’ll come via a check in the mail. The checks will include a short explanation of the tax-cap law and why the refund is being issued. If your address has changed since filing your 2021 taxes, the Department of Revenue advises updating your address on the MassTaxConnect portal to make sure the checks find you.
